  • Help with Firewire and OS 10.1.5

Does anyone still remember OS 10.1.5 We're a little behind here in the MAC department, and I stupidly upgraded my blue and white G3 from rock solid OS9 to OSX!!!!

Often when I disconnect a firewire device, I get an error message saying something has gone wrong with the firewire connection. Then I can't see any of my firewire devices! If I connect, disconnect, turn off and on, try other cables, reboot, turn off and start again, it seems no matter what I do I can't get the computer to recognize any firewire devices. Any tips on what I might try?

    Thanks

Do you unmount, or eject the firewire drives before unplugging them?

That's crucial under OS X, and was certainly recommended under OS 9.

Otherwise, it shouldn't be happening. That's not normal! Are you using a hub that may need firmware updated or something?
