You could try a DA/AD converter like the Canopus ADVC-100

I have the Formac Studio. It works just great, but it's larger than the Canopus.

There are other ones on the list, but many of them are consumer products, not pro products. You might see a definite difference in features and quality. It depends on if that's an issue for you or not. It's kinda a "get what you pay for" thing.

The following link might help you when it comes time to connect. Scroll down, going from Firewire to Analog is a little ways down the page:

Actually, I can hook it straight up to our DVD player/burner since it's got a firewire input. I guess I should be more specific...does anyone know of a converter or bridge that can go digital (firewire) to analog without a computer. Or if there's a VHS deck with firewire capabilities?

Nope. Firestore is a firewire device which must be mounted via a computer.

    Firestore to VHS without computer?

I've got a delemma here maybe you all can help...

I work at a university where we use DV cams hooked up with Firestores to record the footage since most things we shoot are between 2 and 4 hours. We've got some really old school faculty however that just want VHS tapes. I'm trying to find a way to go from the firestore (firewire) to VHS without a computer. Does anyone know of a converter that will do this and do it well?

    Thanks for any suggestions.
