  • dvcpro hd storage or downconvert?

    Hi All,
I need some serious help. I am editing a series that is estimating around 800 hours of HDV footage shot. We have to bring in all of our footage thru the DVCPRO HD codec because it was all shot on the JVC GY100 before all the upgrades, and those tapes won't play in any deck except the BR50, and that can't be brought in as HDV- only DVCPRO HD with the Kona LHE card to keep timecode.....How does one downconvert UPON ingestion, or how does one go about storing this amount of footage. We have looked into the Xserve RAID and it's a touch out of our budget- so in the meantime I am looking for storage or downconvert solutions that don't require us buying terabyte drives every week.
    THANKS!!!

I'd get a media convertor like an AJO IO HD or something. 800 hours of DVCPROHD is about 44 TB.
