  • What's the best deck for me?

    Hey guys, I'm new here,

I have a few questions, first of all, I need a deck for capturing video onto my workstation and also for recording a two camera shoot on a weekly basis.
I can't spend alot on a deck... $2500 would really be pushing it. I'm thinking around 1k.
I was looking at this the other day, what do you guys think about this?

I talked to someone else about it and they said it would be easily broken because of the way it's built.

My second question is, what is threading do or mean??? And some of the other terms that are used with these decks.

Btw, this is for minidv tapes.

    Thanks so much,

    Steve

It's not showing up on the supported devices list...

Threading on a deck means taking the tape out of the cassette and pulling through the threading mechanism so it can be read or recorded to by the machine. (or putting it back, in the case of ejecting said cassette)

I'm a fan of the Sony DSR-11, but they're hard to find now. If you can get a good deal on a trustworthy used unit, go for it. Otherwise, here's something that's just above your 1k mark, but much lass than 2500.

Without audio, TV is just surveillance.
