  • Conflict with Firewire devices?

    Hi.
In a post production facility I'm working with they say they can't use external FW HD to digitize from a DV VTR connected by FW to the PC they're using.
I find it strange, as I do it all the time with my Macs in FCP.
It's true or it's one of those overzealous engineer's things?

It is possible, but the issue is that the hard drive may bneed to be on a different FW bus than the incoming signal. The other question is whether there is a Mojo or Adrenaline hardware being used in the process?

If this is a desktop system, this is easily solved by capturing the video via the FW on the motherboard and attaching the drives to a PCI/FW card.

The same can be done with notebooks by using a PCMCIA/FE card.
