  • Diital Juice and Alpha channels

Looking for settings and work flow between Digital Juice Editors Toolkit (via Juicer) and Avid Xpress Pro. Having trouble with Alpha Channel coming through. Short history: Avid Media Composer editor 1995-2001; FCP 2001-2007; now working with Avid Xpress Pro (Windows). Settings/workflow lost/forgotten in FCP haze. Can't find the info needed in manuals. Sure could use a reminder. I'm thankin' ya....

Just drag the file from the DJ disk to the desktop (or to a Projects Files folder, if you are an organized sort). Use the Import command in Avid. Avid will do it's dance to turn it into a OMFI, alpha intact. You may have to reverse the alpha...I don't quite remember. It also may look funny until you actually composite it over something, especially if it has feathered edges.

Or you can use the Juicer, export with the Animation codec, Millions+ colors. (The "+" is the alpha channel). Then import as usual.
