    Here's a very rookie question:

I'm working on an Avid Express Pro and have compressed my project using Sorenson on a PC. I now need to author a DVD on a Mac. What are the steps that I need to take once I've finished compression to output a successful DVD?

    Thanks!

Is there an export out of Xpress Pro to QT that doesn't require compressing?

Because Sorenson is compressed, and then iDVD will compress again.

You don't want to do that.

Thanks very much for the response.

So, then what steps should I take instead to output? I've also attempted to export to a Quicktime movie from my avid and then, using an external hard drive, transfer to my Mac to author in iDVD. There are two problems with that:

      1. Although I have a 900+ GB drive, it has to be formatted as FAT 32 to go in between Mac and PC - meaning that it can only handle files that are less than 4GB (the Quicktimes are always larger).

      2. Even when I borrowed a friend's "super" drive that could handle more GBs, and used iDVD, my video was off and created a trailing effect on all the actions that is not visible on both Avid or the Quicktimes.

Am I missing a step? Should I be doing something else before or after I've created the Quicktime?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Could you explain: "my video was off and created a trailing effect on all the actions that is not visible?"

What codec are you outputting from Avid as a QT.

Sure. The video of the outputted version does not look like the same as it does in avid or in the quicktime version. Every motion has a "trail" effect...as if something happened to the media in the transfer.

I'm not sure about the codec. What would you recommend I set it at?

I don't know what AVID outputs.

what are your choices in QT?
