  • Why uploading times so different?

I was uploading a .mov file to YouTube. It took over 4 hours. Having decided to make changes, I deleted the movie and tried re-uploading a new version. It began saying it would take 280 minutes. A while later I looked at it and it said 448 minutes. So I stopped the upload and tried again. Same thing.

Any idea why it seems to be taking longer and why the time to upload increases instead of decreases?

Is it a YouTube problem? Seems like one time I had this problem, restarted the computer and the upload went quicker.

This sounds odd but should I flush my pram, clear my cache or something else?

What internet connection and speed do you have?

Size of the movie? Time of day?

    All affect upload times.

Because you aren't the only one on the Internet.

Your upload time will vary because there may be a thousand other uploads to YouTube at the same time, or only 100. You may be on a cable connection and sharing the cable bandwidth with your whole neighborhood, or just a couple of other users.
