    Summary

    The Data Operations Technician will send, receive and distribute digital elements used in Film & Television Post-Production via electronic transmission methods or physical media such as hard drives, data tape, & optical discs. They will archive and retrieve data to and from off-line tape storage, and do quality assurance of Digital Intermediate files.
    They will work closely with production teams to ensure the accurate and timely transfer of data both to and from the facility.


    Responsibilities
    • QC project master deliverables per client specifications for a variety of media platforms including: broadcast, web and social media. Oversee final media upload to distribution company.
    • Manage the incoming and outgoing of data to clients and other facilities.
    • Accurate renaming of data as requested by the production teams and clients.
    • Apply color look up tables to data during processing.
    • General data management including creating, deleting shots and moving shots.
    • Maintain logs of completed work orders and inbound files.
    • File conversions and extractions from various formats such as dpx, exr, mov, R3D and dng.
    • Monitoring the in house submission queue and liaising with production teams on progress or problems.
    • Virus checking all incoming material.
    • General problem solving and working closely with the tech department.
    • Archiving and restoring data to and form the tape backup system.
    • Send/receive/distribute files via FTP, Smartjog, Digidelivery & other secure transmission methods.
    • Archive and retrieve data to the off-line tape library.
    • Receive, log and track all materials and communicate with production teams on materials received and delivered.


    Requirements
    • BA/BS Degree in Computer/ Information Science, Media, Communications or related field.
    • Minimum 1 year experience working in a VFX facility in a similar position or prior experience with D.I., editorial, or sound files in a post environment.
    • Knowledge of modern digital cameras; Arri Alexa, RED One, Varicam etc.
    • Ability to navigate proficiently in a Linux shell, execute commands, & write simple scripts.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
    • Working knowledge of FTP and web based file transfer methods.
    • Working knowledge of various file formats used in Film & Video post-production.
    • Good working knowledge and experience of tape backup systems.
    • Familiarity with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task under pressure with minimal supervision.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Available to work overtime.
