    RLT is seeking a Computer Graphics Technical Artist/Technical Art Director for a Los Angeles entertainment facility specializing in high end virtual interactive experiences. This is a well-financed start-up company working with proven bleeding-edge technology, and populated with top tier talent from the Visual Effects, VR/AR, and Music Industries. This Los Angeles branch is part of a successful enterprise with offices internationally. Employees include Academy Award winners and globally recognized business visionaries...(yes, this is a very smart and talented group of people). This is a rare and exciting ground floor opportunity for the right individual.

    This is a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP (remote to start and then in-studio when it’s safe to go back). Excellent benefits and compensation.

    Responsibilities:
    • Creating high-quality tools to support modeling and animation team
    • Expert in Maya and Unreal Engine integration
    • Working within game development check-in/check out methodology
    • Working within a production pipeline with deadlines

    Required skills.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Graphic Art or a related field or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 7 (seven) years of professional experience in computer-generated art.
    • Understanding of artist workflows, VFX authoring, Lighting theory (PBR/PBL, LUTs), HDR pipeline, color theory, profiling, and optimizing for real-time rendering.
    • Expert knowledge of Houdini.
    • Proficiency in 3D math.
    • Ability to write clean, maintainable and extensible code with attention to reusability.
    • Understanding of software architecture and design.
    • Intimate knowledge of Maya and computer graphics as demonstrated in a portfolio.
    • Experience in coding user-facing tools; knowledge of good UI design principles.
    • Working knowledge of C++ is preferred, along with Python / PySide and MEL.

    Desired Skills:
    • Good understanding of CG lighting and look development
    • Ability to script in MEL and Python a plus
    • General rigging skills and working with geometry deformers

    Education:
    • 4-year college degree or technical certifications
    • Enthusiasm and initiative.
    • Excellent spoken and written communication.
    • Able and motivated to work with other team members.
