  • compressor 4 for fcp 6.0.6 ?

I would be very grateful if you could please let me know if Compressor 4 can run in FCP 6.0.6 without affecting previous projects and settings.

On what system? What's your Mac and what version of OS X?

You can install Compressor 4 but you will break the "send to" from FCP 6. I know several people who have done this with FCP 7 without any complaints. Since it's not a supported upgrade path I have to qualify, I'm not actually endorsing it in case something goes wrong but AFAIK it's not a problem. I take it you need to do encodes which aren't supported under Compressor 3?

Thank you, for your explantion and advice, Zwick.
In fact, i do have a big problem in running Compressor 3 which came with the black box of Final Cut Studio 2 i purchased in 2008.
"Inadvertently" i upgraded (at the Software Update) from the FCP 6.0 to 6.0.6 and never more i have been able to run Compressor 3.
Always when i "send to" a file there appears a box asking to fill in the serial number and, in spite of doing it, a message says is not valid.
I have already tried to re-install Studio 2 again without success, and Compressor 3 does not work (it appears the same demand of serial # and the same message error after i fill it).
By the way, would you mind if i ask you how to solve this? For my needs, i was pleased to FCP Studio 2 and FCP 6; Compressor 3 has all encods i need.
But "inadvertently" i made this mistake of upgrading...
          Thank you so much.

Stuff like that, you call Apple. You have 30 days free support.
